Our Story

Empowerment in Action (EIA) is dedicated to empowering communities to achieve their
fullest potential. Our mission is to empower local leaders to access, implement, and evaluate
programs that secure funding and resources for vital community priorities. EIA creates a safe
space for talented leaders, scholars, and visionaries to champion community-led projects and
initiatives with the support of industry professionals dedicated to their success.

From   the   beginning

Our Why

As a young leader, Dr. Borreli experienced the frustration of seeing need and opportunity, yet not having access to the funding, information, or support to manage a community project from beginning to end. After obtaining a position requiring her to lead the development of two affordable housing communities, she was excited to work with a team to make it happen. Her first successful affordable housing development was complete and her second underway  when she realized just how far from the community the dollars used to fund these housing projects get. She was managing negotiations and building a non-profit organization; receiving and managed millions in grant funding; all while being forced to justifying her salary to investors at every step.
As Dr. Borreli was navigating this process, there were allegations regarding developers and politicians stealing money and utilizing public funds for personal gain. While continuing the day to day management of that non-profit, she began dreaming of a world where creative, talented, problem solvers can go and save the world. She was going to take what she learned from the
mistakes she made and lessons she learned to the streets. Dr. Borreli understood these projects, these community investments, can be life changing opportunities to local community leaders. These leaders can build teams to successfully manage significant community investments, with guidance.
